A novel civil engineering design – Connective City
The concept of our proposed city design is “Connective City”. In this city, human basically can live without wearing a space suit and without being conscious of harsh environments. The burden of wearing a space suit can be drastically reduced by moving the living space where countermeasures to the environment of Mars are taken. The significance of this idea is not only solving the problem of living in the harsh environment of Mars but also solving the problem of the burden of movement in large cities of the earth. The idea of moving this living space eliminates the concept of movement that human feel. The physical phenomena such as small gravity and the abundant resources on Mars realizes this idea.
-Two main actors-
The living space itself moves in the city with one million humans in order to withstand the harsh environment on Mars. This proposal makes it possible to minimize the scene wearing a space suit and increase opportunities for people to meet in face to face. A novel vehicle “Connective Module” moves along the rails laid by robots “Connective Robot” that is also proposed as a candidate for the mechanical engineering design award. The houses connect each other for expanding the space and this becomes a household living with a family and an office to work with friends.
The filed robot “Connective Robot” works in order to draw rails that is used as a main part of the infrastructure. The rails make it possible for the city to change the form along with the increase in population because the rail is made by 3D printing the
