Overview for Mavericks
Mavericks combines the vertical take-off capability of a multi-rotor with the range and efficiency of a flying wing to achieve mission success.
It features a unique 6 rotor arranged in a Y-6 configuration to meet the heavy lifting requirements (with MTOW: 25 kg), as well as provides redundancy during take-off and landing. The main thrust is provided by the 2 sets of coaxial U-11 Tiger Motor motor spinning a 27 inch propeller each, augmented by a coaxial U-7 Tiger Motor with an 18 inch propeller. The arrangement in a Y-6 configuration provides good maneuverability and supreme yaw authority during vertical take-off and landing. The maximum total thrust provided by all the rotor adds up to 38 kgf. The system hover thrust is at 25 kgf.
Cruise power is provided a twin Hacker A50-12L, paired with a 12 inch propeller. The cruise speed of 80 km/h and a large wing area of 3.5 squared metre ensures sufficient lift during forward flight for a 25 kg system. TL54 is adopted for the main airfoil profile and NACA 0009 for the V-Tail stabilizers.
